Brent Anderson had the opportunity to help lead the largest dental group on their M&A team buying offices all over the United States, now having been a part of over 300 practice transitions throughout my career. Brent enjoys the relationship aspect of truly understanding what’s important to his clients and building a lifetime friendship with the people he helps navigate through exploring all the different transition options that are in the market. As Brent feels it’s important to have representation to make sure you make the right choice in your decision with your future partners as you typically will only have one chance at doing this with your dental practice. With Brent’s experience on the buy-side and his passion for truly wanting to do what’s best for his clients, this will be a winning receipt for his future success for his clients.

Carrie Averill is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at PTS. She attended the University of Louisville and began her career in Human Resources for a top Fortune 500 company. After enjoying many years in HR and personally connecting with over 350 employees daily, Carrie did an about face and began a new and challenging career path in sales & marketing, where she has spent the last 20 years. What prompted her to make that change and what she enjoys most is really getting to know her clients, their business and making that personal connection.
Carrie was born in New England, but has lived in various parts of the country – making her home in Alabama, Kentucky (you know where she always was that first Saturday in May) and in Colorado before making her way back to the coast of Massachusetts with her family where she enjoys the beach, trail riding and all that living on the coast has to offer. In typical New England fashion, she’s a die-hard New England sports fan, but when it comes to college football, you will find her cheering on her son’s team – Texas A&M. Howdy!
MERGER & ACQUISITION CONSULTANT
Tamara brings with her decades of entrepreneurial and M&A experience to Professional Transition Strategies. Prior to entering the dental industry, she founded and owned an executive search firm. Tamara’s entrepreneurial drive has helped her lead and scale fast-growing companies in a variety of industries.
Tamara entered the dental field in 2013 working for a large national dental support organization (DSO). There she oversaw many responsibilities, such as opening new markets and managing provider relations, recruitment and development.
Most recently, Tamara served as vice president at an emerging DSO and led all aspects of business development. The company grew over 216% during her tenure and made the Inc. 5000 list from 2016-2020.
As a seasoned veteran on the buy side of dental M&A from her time at multiple DSOs, she provides a unique perspective while advising sellers. Tamara’s consultative approach is rooted in building and nurturing strong industry relationships to lead clients through successful transitions.
Tamara never passes up an opportunity to visit new restaurants with her husband in Denver, going on a walk with the family labradoodle or paddle boarding with their daughter on one of the many lakes and reservoirs in the area.
Kyle Francis, MBA
Founder – President
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Professional Sales from Baylor University, Kyle completed the MBA program at the University of Colorado with specialties in Finance and Strategy.
Kyle has worked in the dental and medical field since 2005 consulting for practices, medical device companies, and groups of practitioners. He has used this knowledge to consult over 50 start-up companies and dental practices, as well as help build well over 100 dental and medical practices across the country. He has owned all or part of more than 20 practices and has been an investor in multiple DSO concepts.
Kyle created Professional Transition Strategies (formerly Headwaters Practice Consultants) to facilitate the sale of over 350 dental practices as a buyer’s representative, seller’s representative, or as a transaction broker. His M&A work has resulted in over $200M in total deal flow. His specialty is offering unique options to sellers allowing them to explore individual, group, and private equity investments to achieve the transition goals of his clients.
He and his family live in Colorado Springs where he enjoys golfing, skiing, and hunting as often as he can.
Business Valuation Specialist
Mark completed two bachelor’s degrees in Finance and International Business from New Mexico State University, and later a master’s degree in Finance from Arizona State University. He has experience helping small business owners plan and prepare for retirement while at Vanguard. Mark has also prepared the financial reports for mutual fund products while at BNP Paribas, helping them establish their domestic financial services division.
Mark incorporates an analytical and forward looking approach in his work. Collaboration and communication are a part of his core principles he implements throughout the valuation process.
Outside of work, Mark loves checking out local cafes, going to standup comedy shows, and sharing his playlists with anyone who will listen.
Melissa Howard, MBA
MANAGER of STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS
Melissa completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at The University of Texas- Austin and an MBA in Finance at the University of Houston. She has an extensive background related to the business of medicine, as she spent nearly 10 years at MD Anderson Cancer Center helping to grow and administer public health outreach programs and federal grant programs. Stakeholder support is one of Melissa’s driving passions, and she finds joy in helping practitioners achieve goals in their practice, which translates into personal success for doctors who are able to transition their practice to the next level, whether that is a partnership, buy-out, or other option that fits their specific needs. She also truly enjoys the process of getting to know a doctor and their practice to help fully understand what the goals are and can be, and what mutual success looks like for each stakeholder involved. Although she has left the great state of Texas, you can find her continually rooting for her Longhorn team and indoctrinating her son in the business of Texas football. She is a proud wife and mother who is excited about all of the opportunities working for PTS affords.

Jay is uniquely qualified to guide doctors through transitioning their biggest asset, their practice.
He spent the last decade building, managing and then affiliating his wife’s dental practice. Along the way they built a new facility, established a commercial dental laboratory, and created a digital dental training center. In his former life he was a commercial banker and real estate broker. This personal and professional experience helps him understand your dreams as well as your concerns. He is a skilled negotiator and a tireless advocate who is committed to the success of your transition!
Jay is a Banana Slug rugby player and an avid adventurer. Sailing, scuba diving, hunting, dirt biking and surfing take up a lot of his free time, but his very best days are powder days with his wife and son! Let’s talk about what you have in mind, the world is your oyster doc!

Troy has nearly 20 years of experience in the dental industry. Recently, as a Field Sales Consultant, Business Development Specialist, and then Regional Sales Manager for a large dental supplier in Texas and Colorado. He has experience in dental real estate and has enjoyed most of his experience helping dentists transition their practice. Prior to that, Troy worked as an Account Manager and Regional Sales Manager for another dental supply company for nearly 15 years. He developed several new territories and new markets which eventually allowed him to take on a leadership role where he was responsible for coaching and mentoring new Account Managers. This experience allowed Troy to routinely visit several hundred dental clients across different states where he quickly became passionate about the business side of dentistry and dedicated to partnering and helping the Field Sales Consultant and clientele succeed. His heart and passion have always been where he can be a valuable resource and where our clients can directly benefit from the services that we provide. Troy graduated from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Marketing and Finance). While at Evansville, he enjoyed a successful basketball career and played in the Division I NCAA tournament. In 2010, it was an honor for him to be selected to the illustrious Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame “Silver Anniversary Team”. Troy has been happily married for the last 22 years and blessed with three amazing children.
Stanton is an experienced Lead Broker at PTS focusing on medical business brokerage with a background in the commercial real estate industry. He is skilled in negotiation, sales, risk management, sales management, and customer service. Stanton graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, and is an avid outdoorsman from Colorado who enjoys biking, skiing, alpine touring, and time with his wife and two kids.

As the chief operating officer at Professional Transition Strategies, Rebecca Kilibarda is responsible for working directly with the president of PTS to develop business operations of the company. Her experience and leadership have been focused on developing and delivering result-driven business services, as well as providing unparalleled customer service and creative solutions. Rebecca has a consistent record of positioning practices for success and providing inventive options to allow the transitioning doctor to accomplish their objective.
As the architect of business strategy, Rebecca has helped lead the team to become one of the top 250 fastest-growing companies in the United States. Through her innovative marketing strategies, she has broadened outreach efforts for all listed practices to ensure an increase in offers and options for transitioning doctors.
Demonstrating both an entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial force, Rebecca has an innate ability to identify and actualize valuable ideas. Through her shrewd strategies to maximize organizational capabilities, operations, and service offerings, she is able to not only deliver advantageous results for her clients but also a structured and seamless process for the PTS team.
As a proud Oklahoman who relocated to Colorado, Rebecca can be found alongside her husband and two sons rooting for the OU Sooners and the Denver Broncos in the fall, skiing the Rocky Mountains in the winter, and fishing for Rainbow Trout in the spring and summer. She is also fluent in Spanish and has her real estate license.

Kim has worked in dentistry for the last 30 years. She spent those early years managing and leading large dental practices. Kim eventually served as Director of Operations overseeing multiple dental practices and specialized in the pre and post-acquisition process, until forming her own company, True North Dental Solutions. At True North, Kim focused on practice start-ups, practice management, and continued consulting through the pre and post-acquisition process. Kim went on to merge her company with the Avitus Group to start Avitus Dental Management Solutions, a full service dental consulting firm to include building a successful in-house virtual dental billing company. Kim is a Certified Professional Business Coach and holds memberships with ADMC, DEN, and AADOM. Kim’s strengths are found in Leadership, Business Development, Business Transition, Startups, and Team Development. Kim is married and has 2 grown children. She loves to run, hike, and to spend time with family and friends, and a day is not complete without reading a good book! One of her greatest accomplishments is co-founding a non-profit with her husband, David, where they Educate, Encourage, and Empower indigenous pastors and church leaders through a literacy program in Uganda, East Africa.

Ann Rash is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at PTS. She has a Business Management Degree from Johnson and Wales University. After managing several restaurants across New England, Ann returned to school to earn an additional Bachelor’s Degree is Paralegal Studies. As a Paralegal, Ann specialized in workers’ compensation defense and was an expert in recovering funds for clients from the NH Second Injury Fund. On the defense side, Ann assisted insurance companies and self-insured employers to mitigate exposure and defend against workers’ compensation claims.
For the past 15 years Ann has been assisting clients with their marketing needs and developing custom marketing and advertising plans for high end clients. She has worked with event professionals to increase their targeted outreach and expand brand awareness. Ann is a seasoned professional who is exceptional at bringing valuable insight to any discussion with passion and enthusiasm. Ann’s passion is customer service which allows her to help doctors with goals for their practice and provide option for successful transitions.
Ann and her family have recently relocated to Florida, where they can enjoy the sunshine and boating and biking year round. Growing up in New England, she is a huge hockey fan and is often seen cheering on her Boston Bruins.
Jennifer Sims, CPA
SENIOR BUSINESS VALUATION SPECIALIST
Upon receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Baylor University, Jennifer obtained her license as a Certified Public Accountant. After working in public accounting as an auditor of financial service companies, Jennifer transitioned her career to dentistry. She has been in the dental field since 2007 as a practice manager and accountant. The aspects of private dental practice that she enjoyed the most were developing the business and staff, and increasing the practice’s efficiency and productivity. Jennifer combines her in-depth knowledge of dentistry with her extensive accounting background to provide our clients with expert valuation services. Jennifer and her family live in Colorado Springs. She enjoys being involved in her children’s activities, traveling, and attending as many sporting events as possible.
Kaile Vierstra has a long background in quality customer service, marketing, and office management. She firmly believes that people do business with people they like- and is positive that you’ll like doing business with PTS. Coming from a sports background, she is highly goal-oriented and applies this to her work with PTS. Often the first point of contact as the Executive Coordinator, Kaile strives to display company values and build relationships in every interaction- from sending basic documents to discussing potential practices. Kaile is excited to be part of the PTS team and to assist in making everything run smoothly to better help our clients. Kaile graduated from Western Kentucky University- Go Tops!- and her love of racing and riding mountain bikes brought her to Colorado Springs. She has since fallen in love with the community and lack of humidity. When not in the office, you’ll find her in North Cheyenne Canon Park on her mountain bike, rock climbing, or trying to tire her Rhodesian Ridgeback, Stratton.

Upon earning his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and Professional Selling from Baylor University in 2004, Matt began his career with the largest provider of health products and services rendered to the office-based practitioner in the world. His roles and responsibilities included business and infrastructure development for both private practice dentists as well as dental service organizations. Matt personally facilitated value for a wide range of clients in seeding over 850 dental offices. He was the dental industry’s top producer in revenue for 8 years and had proximity to more than 100M of transacted value. During this tenure, his consultative services included project/practice planning, real estate evaluation, construction evaluation, office design, and maximization of in-office efficiencies. Many of his clients pivoted after their first few ventures, established economies of scale, honed their operations, and transformed themselves into the market leading dental service organizations. In recent years he has aided healthcare startups in order to navigate sales, scale, and trajectory for both B2B and B2C oral healthcare companies. One of Matt’s most feverish passions is the little known and often overlooked link between oral health and systemic wellness. Matt found great purpose through assisting doctors in conceiving their vision of oral healthcare service from inception through the process of entrepreneurship. Now, he has the privilege of facilitating that same vision on the other side of their career in navigating an effective and purposeful merger or acquisition nurtured by the Professional Transition Strategies team. Give Back A Smile is part of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. This charitable foundation proudly helps heal some of the most traumatic and visible effects of sexual and domestic violence by restoring the smiles of survivors. Many of these domestic assaults on men and women were suffered by the hands of former intimate spouses, partners, and family members, including sexual assaults. Since being established in 1999, Give Back A Smile has restored more than 1,700 lives and smiles.
